Hi, I am Archana. New to the world of blogs. I was planning to join this world since last six months, but couldn’t muster the courage. So let me start with what inspired me!! I live quite close to Osmaniya University, Hyderabad. My work and my relatives require me to pass through the place many times. I love observing people and students are one of my favourite people. I also make a lot of comparisons. So it is very obvious, that I compare the current batch with my “good old days.” Coming back to the OU students, to be frank, I never felt that they were assertive enough or impressive to me, at least they didn’t appear. And I was very sure about that as I had seen students in Mumbai and Delhi, and I used to feel really intimidated by them!!! (Not a very impressive trait about me , but I am here to express my opinion, so I should be truthful.)
But in last six months, my opinion took a turnaround. Around December, the Telangana movement started pacing up in the campus. And at first I was shocked with the passion shown by the OU students for the T cause. With every passing day, their enthusiasm, their passion became so infectious. (I would like to clarify here, I am not well versed with the whole T issue, neither I am supporting the violent tactics used to support it, but the difference between Telangana and Coastal Andhra is very obvious to any outsider). Whenever, I used to pass by the campus or read about the students’ protest, I used to feel a surge of respect for those nameless, faceless OU students, who were out in the sun, fighting for the cause. The contrast is so apparent in Hyderabad, where one can see scores of young people struggling to compete in the rat race of engineering and medical entrance exams. I am sure career is a priority for all those OU students, but they have a fire in them, a passion to fight not just for themselves but also for other voiceless people in the badly managed place, a passion which I crave to see outside the campus.
I owe my first entry in this blog to the passion of the students of OU campus.
